In 2021, we attended a call from a customer whose tenant had left the chip pan fryer on and had set alight to the kitchen.
Luckily the smoke detector did its job, and everyone got out safely.
According to the UK Fire Service :
“Mains-powered smoke alarms have to be installed in all new buildings and after a major refurb and need to be installed by a qualified electrician”
